Ethernet First Mile (EFM) utilises bonded copper pairs to deliver bandwidth up to 40Mbps
Many sites need better connectivity than standard ADSL or SDSL broadband, but cannot justify the investment required for a Fibre Ethernet Service. EFM bridges the gap between ADSL and Fibre Ethernet, and is often suited to medium traffic sites that still require high availability and high quality.
Updata provides two EFM options:
- Symmetric EFM - either through dedicated infrastructure integrated into the existing cloud, with bonding up to 8 pairs and providing symmetric speeds up to 40Mbps. Alternatively Updata offer 2, 4 and 8 pair EFM within the existing cloud, providing symmetric speeds up to 30Mbps.
- Asymmetric EFM - at up to 24Mbps downstream and 2.5Mbps upstream, with trials of 240Mbps downstream / 30 Mbps upstream with bonding
Key Features
- Symmetric EFM –up to 40Mbps
- Asymmetric EFM - up to 240Mbps downstream, up to 30Mbps upstream
- Actual achievable Bandwidth dependent on local loop quality and distance from exchange, but guaranteed in SLA
- Plug and play via RJ45 Ethernet
- Low lead times – 2 to 8 weeks for installation, 2-4 weeks for upgrades
